What is VBS?
VBS (Vacation Bible School) is a summer event for children entering Kindergarten through sixth grade. Each day, the children start together in large group time where we sing and dance, watch skits, play games, and prepare for our day together. From there, groups (arranged by grades) travel to five activity stations: Bible, crafts, games, missions, and snacks.
During our missions station, we will learn about how being a pilot and having other specialized skills are an important part of Bible translation. Our featured missionaries, Randy and Shirl Pearson have served in Papua New Guinea and the Northern Territories in Australia for over 30 years. Randy is a pilot and Shirl has served as part of the Wycliffe Bible Translators administration team. Randy is currently working as the Pacific Field Coordinator, overseeing translation projects in: Papua New Guinea, Vanuatu, The Solomon Islands, New Caledonia, and Australia. The Pearsons have three adult sons all residing in the Lancaster County area.
Why is VBS such a big deal?
Churches have been doing Vacation Bible School’s for years and it is a week that many look forward to, children and adults alike. In a time when the Bible is not valued or read as it should be, we have the opportunity to take one week and focus on it, helping children to understand that the Bible is important, completely true, and applies directly to them. Our desire is that children (and families) would come to know Christ through learning from scripture and experiencing the love of God during VBS!
What is Time Lab?
This year our theme for VBS is Time Lab! We will be traveling through time and discovering Jesus from before Creation to eternity!
Day 1: Destination: Creation – Jesus before and at creation
Day 2: Destination: Old Testament Locations – Jesus in the Old Testament
Day 3: Destination: Visitation – Jesus in the New Testament
Day 4: Destination: Preparation – Jesus today
Day 5: Destination: Celebration – Celebrate Jesus in the future
VBS is a Safe Place
Our VBS volunteers have child safety clearances and we will have a security team on duty during the week. Our desire is that VBS be a safe place where your children can learn and have fun.
