Our mission as a church is to reach and equip people of all generations to love God, love others, and impact our world for Christ. To help us achieve our mission, God has graciously and generously given us many resources.
His Word…He has given us His Word and the Gospel of Christ. When believed, obeyed and trusted, God’s Word is life-changing.
His Spirit…He also has given us His Holy Spirit, who works with us to make us more like Christ and also is a at work to establish the work of our hands.
God’s People…And then there is the resource of God’s people … all of you who bring your gifts, abilities, time, experience, passions, effort, etc. to invest in our mission.
Our Facility…And then their is the resource of this facility (even though these bricks, pipes, electrical wires, carpeting, shingles, drywall, etc. could be called a building, I prefer the word “facility” for I see this facility as a resource God has given us to facilitate our mission). Our facility has been built in three phases (1980, 1992, 2002) and is now owned by our church debt free. Praise God!
So how does investing in this capital campaign with a focus on our facility “build a legacy?” Let me give you some examples …
Five days a week during the school year (and 2-3 days/wk during the summer months) our Kids Express Preschool ministry welcomes children into our facility and introduces them to Jesus (many from unchurched family). Over 1800 students across 25 years. We want to continue to attract new students. AND we want to continue to attract new families to our church’s Children Ministries (SS, Kids Worship, VBS, AWANA, Boy’s Brigade, etc. These parents are looking for an attractive, safe, and secure facility. We want to upgrade our CM wing so that we can continue to build a legacy in the lives of these children.
…And consider what happens in this room each Sunday. We gather for worship. God works in our hearts. He calls us to walk with him, serve him, go and be his ambassadors across the street and for some of us … across the world. What a legacy when we send missionaries to India, Tanzania, Japan, and more.
…And think about our Africa initiative … reaching out to our adopted people group. God gave us the vision for our part in His plan right here in this facility. I will never forget the evening meeting in Grace Cafe during which Pastor Alec and I washed Paul’s feet as a way of honoring him. That moment bonded our church forever with our brother from Tanzania.
God is using this facility to birth ministries and host ministries which are building a legacy for generations to come. But for us to be able to continue to do so … we need to invest in this resource. We need to sharpen the saw, for the saw grows dull with use (which is really a good thing!).
As with any facility, time and age cause deterioration. Recently some crucial maintenance needs have come to the attention of our Elders. After considering these multiple needs, they commissioned a team to implement a plan for funding and addressing these maintenance issues.
With prayerful and thorough consideration, the Capital Campaign Team determined a funding goal of at least $150,000 to cover both immediate and long-term projects of the facility Grace Church.
Replacement of the Flat Roof (Immediate): With the combination of age and persistent rains this past summer, our roof had several leaks. Certain spots have been temporarily fixed but the roof needs to be completely replaced to avoid further structural damage.
Replacement of the HVAC System (Immediate): The HVAC system on the main part of the facility is close to 20 years old which has surpassed the typical expectancy of 15-17 years. Over the past year, the system has needed several costly repairs. Units will be replaced, based on repair priority, over the course of several years. A new HVAC system will ensure many years of climate control within the facility.
Children’s Wing Update (Long-term):An update to the Children’s Wing is long overdue. This part of the building endures daily wear as the space is shared with Kids Express Preschool during the week. The Children’s Wing is in need of renovation, including new flooring, paint, lighting, and furnishings. With the collaboration of Children’s Ministry and KEP staff, this project is planned to begin during the summer of 2020.
Miscellaneous Expenses (Immediate and Long-term):As good stewards, we want to budget for any unforeseen expenses and facility maintenance concerns that may arise outside of our annual budget.
BE A PART OF THE LEGACY: We invite you to prayerfully consider being a part of our legacy here at Grace Church through extraordinary giving. Beginning March 1st, you may donate by indicating “Capital Campaign” on a giving envelope or on the memo line of a check, or click here to give online.
Thank you for creating a legacy of a well-maintained facility for the next generation. If you have questions, contact Pastor Al Reilly or Pastor Adam Swift..
