“Mission begins at home” is the theme of our 2016 Grace Around the World Missions Celebration. Join us throughout the week for exciting opportunities to fellowship with some of our HOMEgrown missionaries, to learn how we can be a great HOME (or sending) church, and to explore hand-on opportunities to reach out at HOME, right here in Lancaster. Jack Crowley, President of Water Street Mission, will be our keynote speaker at the 9:00 am and 10:30 services on Sunday, April 3rd. Don’t miss these exciting events throughout the weekend:
The Global Coffee House: Friday, April 1, 6:30—8:30 pm. On Friday night, the Family Life Center will be transformed into an exciting place where you can grab some coffee (or tea or hot chocolate) and dessert and talk with missionaries and local ministry representatives in a relaxed, kid-friendly atmosphere, including:
- Representatives from local ministries: The Mix at Arbor Place, Servants, Camp Conquest, Water Street Mission, One City Church, and Go Beyond.
- The Skype Station—video chat with some of our HOMEgrown global workers: Randy and Shirl Pearson (Australia) and E and A (South Asia).
- Short Term Missions—Is God Calling You to Serve? Learn more about ministry teams to Haiti and Japan, and look over an exciting menu of opportunities we’ve gleaned from our partner missionaries and agencies.
- Just for the Kids—visit the Campfire Corner for some exciting missionary adventure stories.
Water Street Mission Tour: Saturday, April 2, 9:30 am—1:00 pm. Don’t miss this exciting opportunity to learn more about Water Street Mission and see the results of their Mission Makeover, a complete renovation of the mission’s kitchen and dining facility. Start the morning with an informative tour and ministry overview and end by meeting some Water Street residents at lunch in the new dining room. Bus transportation will be provided.
Progressive Dinner: Saturday, April 2, 5:30 – 9:00 pm. Join a group of 10-12 to visit five homes throughout the evening. At each home, you will hear from one of our missionaries and enjoy one course of a delicious meal. This year’s Progressive Dinner will feature: Steve and Wilma Bailey, Tim and Dee Manning, Keith and Karen Dodson, Camp Conquest, and Water Street Ministries.
Celebration Giving Project: Just last September, we sent “E and A” and their family to South Asia. What a privilege to serve as their HOME (or sending) church! Now that “E and A” have settled into a house, language school, and other aspects of life in their new city, they need a vehicle that is large enough for the whole family. Our Missions Celebration Giving Project and April Dollar Day gifts will help “E and A” with this important purchase.
Pray Around the World Relay: At 7:00 am Saturday morning, April 2nd, Grace Church will begin a 24-hour prayer “relay” for our missionaries. Every half hour, someone in the Grace Church family will begin blanketing our missionaries with prayer before “passing the baton” to the next person who has volunteered to pray. Sign up today for your time to pray and pick up your photo directory/prayer guide on Sunday, March 27th, at the Grace Around the World Table in Grace Café or the lobby.
The Meet Your Missionaries Lunch. (immediately following the 10:30 service in the FLC.) Don’t go home and cook! Enjoy an informal lunch with all of our local and conference missionaries. Spend some time encouraging them missionaries over a meal, visit their display table, and get the “big picture” view of Grace’s missions outreach (by donation).
